Emily Deschanel’s sister Zooey Deschanel was just a guest star on Bones. But her main job is acting in movies. Her latest movie 500 Days of Summer was just nominated for a Golden Globe Award. It’s up against some heavy-duty competition, but it was such a good movie that it just might have a chance!

Prior to this week’s holiday episode of Bones, Emily Deschanle and her sister Zooey Deschanel sat down to talk a bit about what it was like for them to work together professionally for the first time.
It was a real treat to see them both in the same episode, even though Zooey was trapped in a character that was much less likeable than I had expected. The two seem very close and seem to have a genuine affection as sisters. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

This is the Holiday Featurette from the folks who bring us our favorite show Bones. Each of the cast members tells about what they love most about the holidays and what their most memorable gift was.
I laughed when they each told about their favorite holiday music. John Francis Daley does a very hammy version of “O Come All Ye Faithful.” It’s really funny! They laugh and tell us some personal things about each of them and I love it that they end with John in his reindeer antlers telling us “Happy Holidays!”

Here’s Bones star David Boreanaz telling us a bit about this episode of the show. He starts by telling us that “Santa blows up and there’s evidence all over the place.” LOL! I can’t stop laughing at the silliness and fun of the concept.
He goes on to tell us what it was like to work with the Deschanel sisters together for the first time. And he weighs in on his feelings about getting the entire cast together in a dinner setting. I like his descriptions:

Here are several short spoiler clips from this Bones episode. Zooey Deschanel’s character truly does spout Benjamin Franklin quotes constantly. And it’s interesting that Brennan gets annoyed with her for exactly the same type of thing that she herself does with anthropology facts from time to time. It’s always hardest to deal with people that make us look at our own faults more closely.

In this clip, Emily Deschanel, who plays Temperance Brennan on Bones and her younger sister Zooey Deschanel talk about working together on this episode. It seems, they used to do little plays together for their parents as kids, but they had never worked together professionally before.
Zooey tells us that her character is Brennan’s cousin that she’s never met before and they don’t like each other very much. Zooey’s character is also a big fan of Benjamin Franklin and I’m guessing she quotes him a lot. They are cute together:

Here’s a clip that shows us a bit of the behind-the-scenes and filming for the Christmas gathering dinner for this Bones episode. We see that not only will Daisy accompany Sweets to the gathering, but Cam will also bring her adopted daughter. I love the whole set decorated with lights and a tree and seeing Zooey Deschanel there is such a treat!
I have trouble hearing most of the episode dialog, except for the part about the pagan ritual that involves naked singing. LOL! Brennan is truly one of a kind! …read more

Here are some photos of the upcoming Christmas episode of Bones. This is the one where Emily Deschanel’s real-life sister Zooey Deschanel makes her guest star appearance. (Finally!) Max, Brennan’s father, played by Ryan O’Neal is also a guest star in this episode. It will be fun to see Zooey on the show after all the time we’ve waited for her.

It looks like all the fun is happening on the Bones set today! We found out a few days ago that Emily Deschanel’s sister Zooey Deschanel would be a guest star for the Christmas episode of Bones. Well, they must be filming it this week because show creator Hart Hanson just sent out this fun message on Twitter.
The Deschanel sisters working it together! We may have hit our quotient for fun and amusing. They obviously adore each other.
Wow! I can’t wait for the Christmas episode!
