I was out doing my homework on the actors from Bones to see what they were all up to outside of the show. And imagine my surprise when I found out that Emily Deschanel is in a movie that just opened this past weekend.

I’ve seen a lot of promotion for the movie, but I know that I would just be a blubbering fool if I went to see it. It looks like a total tear-jerker.
If any of you do go to see the film, please let us all know what you think of it and how big Emily’s part in the movie is. Thanks!

Emily is in it for 2 mins and playing a Dr. not really stretching her acting. Jmo.
Emily’s part is very small, and exactly like the comment above when I saw her I thought it was Bones – she did not play the part of a pediatrician (sp) very well. She reminded me of early Bones, Season 1 or 2 and how that Bones was with people. It was great to see her though, in the movies like her little sister. The movie was awful, not a thing like the book. I wouldn’t recommend it at all – a mockery of Jodi Picoult.
I wish Emily’s role big part this movie.
To PKAugust, she wasn’t a pediatrician she’s an oncologist, someone who specializes in cancer. All she did was confirm that Kate had Leukemia…. The movie was REALLY good, A lot of the book was cut out, but it followed all the main events, up until the ending. But Emily was in it for less than 2 minutes.
Though her part was not very big (you see her twice, once when informing the family of Kate’s diagnosis, and once briefly on the stand in the courtroom), I do feel that the did it with class. She really looked a lot like Zooey…it was kinda freaky. BTW they showed a preview for 500 days (zooey’s new movie) Which also has Patrica Belcher (Caroline) in it. And actor that played Jesse in this movie played David Cook in Season one of Bones, the Boy in the Bush….
I was under the impression pediatric oncology was not the same as that for adults. In fact, I know it’s not I have a classmate who chose to go into pediatric oncology. I still think the movie was terrible, there are so many great plots that were cut out. I’m still glad to see Ms. Deschanel in the movies, but I’d like to see her in a bigger role which shows the talent she has on Bones.
Pediatric Oncology is different than regular oncology. Since children have different anatomies/physiologies and are afflicted with different types of cancer, a different specialization is required. Nevertheless, Emily was great in the movie, and the movie itself was pretty fantastic.
