I have had a wonderful afternoon so far today. I just got to talk to a very fun and interesting actor named Scoot McNairy who has been a guest star on Bones twice already. We talked about his recurring character on the show and what he’s up to these days.

You will probably remember the character that Scoot has played on Bones as the quirky informant named Noel Liftin. He was in The Man in the Outhouse, early in season 4 and also in The Secret in the Soil during season 3. You might also remember the character Scoot played in the movie Mr. Fix It, another time when he worked with David Boreanaz.

The production team for Bones has discussed the possibility of Noel Liftin returning in more episodes to help out Booth & Brennan, so if you want to see the character on the show again, be sure to leave a comment for Hart Hanson or the writing team to let them know!

He has several new movies coming out and we talked about those too. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of Scoot McNairy! He had a lot of interesting insights into working with the cast of Bones, so here’s our conversation:

Q: Do you think you’ll ever come back and work on Bones again?

Scoot McNairy: Honestly, I’m hoping I’ll come back. I love working on the show. I love working with Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. They’re two awesome people to work with. But I think it’s up to them. They’ve been talking about bringing me back on the show for future episodes, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Q: So you would return if they asked you?

McNairy: Oh, yeah! I did a movie with David Boreanaz called Mr. Fix It. I don’t think he knew that I was coming on the show and them when I did, we had a good time working together. I think it was him that decided to bring me back. So they intertwined the character back into the show. So I’m hoping to see more of that. It’s kind of up to the fans. [Hint: if you want him back, be sure to comment.]

Q: So what do you remember the most about your time on the show?

Bones: Info About the Next Three New Episodes

February 25, 2009 by Lynn

Today, FOX released some information about the next three new episodes of Bones. They give us the general plot lines for them. It’s not a huge amount of information for each, but enough to let us know a little about the cases they’ll be working on.

We also get to see that Cam’s former fiancee gets half-eaten by a tiger at the zoo. That’s totally not what she had in mind when they broke up, I’m pretty sure anyway. And the writing team alluded to the fact that they had toyed with the idea of a case centered around a “pregnancy pact” when I talked to them in August. Here’s the episode. Now I can’t wait to see these three episodes air!!

Episode 4.16: The Bones That Foam
Airdate: March 12, 2009

In an episode directed by BONES star David Boreanaz, bungee-jumping newlyweds plunge off a bridge on their wedding day only to come face-to-face with a corpse lying at the bottom of the gorge. After ruling out suicide, Brennan (Emily Deschanel), Booth (Boreanaz) and the Jeffersonian team try to determine the cause of death. When they notice an unknown substance oozing from the body, the lab is thrown into immediate lockdown, and they realize they have only 24 hours to unravel the mystery before the bones disintegrate. Episode 4.17: The Salt in the Wounds
Airdate: March 19, 2009

Booth and Brennan investigate a petrified human body found buried in a mound of salt in a city de-icing truck. They discover that the victim was a pregnant 16-year-old high school volleyball player, and are shocked to find that nearly half of her teammates are either pregnant or already have babies as part of a “pregnancy pact.” [Source: FOX]

Episode 4.18: The Doctor in the Den
Airdate: March 26, 2009

The half-eaten body of Cam’s (Tamara Taylor) former fiancée is found in the tiger cage at the zoo, and Booth and Brennan determine the death was no accident. The team pieces together the fiancée’s final evening and questions suspects, including Brandon Casey (guest star Chad Lowe) whom Sweets (John Francis Daley) and Angela (Michaela Conlin) hypnotize to help jog his memory. Bones Nominated for Genesis Award

February 25, 2009 by Lynn

Bones has been nominated again this year for a Genesis Award. The Genesis Awards are given each your by the Humane Society to various shows, movies and articles that promote humane treatment of animals. Bones has been nominated and has won Genesis Awards in the past.

It’s no surprise to me that the episode, The Finger in the Nest, which involved the team uncovering a dog fighting ring and which also guest starred The Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan, is the episode that is nominated. If this episode doesn’t win, I’ll be very surprised. Here are the nominees in their category this year:

Dramatic Series

  • BONES The Finger in the Nest – FOX
  • GREY’S ANATOMY Life During Wartime – ABC
  • LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT Wildlife – NBC

First of all, Bones fans, I know I’m posting a lot in the past few days about Emily Deschanel’s sister Zooey Deschanel, but I know that a lot of Emily fans are also Zooey fans. I hope you’ll bear with me. Zooey has been a very busy lady lately!! I just got some info about Zooey’s latest new movie that will hit the theaters starting in April. The movie is called Gigantic and I don’t know why. Zooey certainaly is NOT gigantic, so there must be a story behind the name…

Here’s the official description of the movie:

GIGANTIC: A film by Matt Aselton

“A lovely, funny, unabashedly odd romance from first-time feature filmmaker Matt Aselton.” –Steve Ramos, Indiewire

Brian (PAUL DANO) is a mattress store worker who wants to adopt a Chinese baby. When free-spirited Harriet aka “Happy” (ZOOEY DESCHANEL) comes into his store one day and falls asleep on a bed, he is swept up in a romance that rocks his quiet world. Their new love twists and turns around their many eccentric relatives and Brian’s looming call from the adoption agency. GIGANTIC also stars John Goodman, Ed Asner and Jane Alexander, and features a very special appearance by comedy genius Zack Galifianakis.

There’s also a cute trailer for the film. It looks like John Goodman plays Zooey’s character’s father and he seems a bit “odd” in a funny sort of way. And Ed Asner plays a quirky guy too. I think I’m going to like this movie. Here’s the clip, you’ll see what I mean:

Gigantic will open in theaters in these cities:

  • April 3rd New York, NY – Village East Cinema [181 - 189 2nd Ave]
  • April 10th San Francisco, CA – Lumiere Theatre [1572 California St.]
  • April 10th Berkeley, CA – Shattuck Cinemas [2230 Shattuck Ave.]
  • April 17th Los Angeles, CA – Nuart Theatre [11272 Santa Monica Blvd.]
  • April 17th Dallas, TX – Angelika Film Center [5321 E. Mockingbird Lane]
  • April 24th Boston, MA – Kendall Square Cinema [One Kendall Square]
  • April 24th Austin, TX – Dobie Theatre [2021 Guadalupe St.]
  • April 24th Portland, OR – Regal Fox Tower [846 SW Park Ave.]
  • May 1st Hartford, CT – Real Art Ways [56 Arbor St.]
  • May 15th San Diego, CA – Ken Cinema [4061 Adams Ave.]
  • May 22nd St. Louis, MO – Tivoli Theatre [6350 Delmar in The Loop]

I also have a few photo stills from the movie. (There are lots more after the jump.)

Zooey Deschanel Helped the Creative Coalition

February 22, 2009 by Lynn

I found this adorable photo of Emily Deschanel’s sister Zooey Deschanel. It was taken when she attended the 2009 Creative Coalition Public Service Announcement Campaign.

I really admire the fact that both sisters get involved in things where they can give back and support the causes they believe in. And doesn’t she look great in the photo?

Bones: Episode 4.16 – “The Bones That Foam” Promo Photos

Episode 4.16: The Bones That Foam
Airdate: March 12, 2009

In these new photos from episode 4.16, The Bones That Foam, we get our first glimpse of David Boreanaz directing the scenes. I really like this first photo because it shows David doing the directing. We don’t usually get to see any of the directors, so this really is special.

The cut lines for these photos say that Booth & Brennan will be investigatin the death of a car salesman, but we also know from the clip that David took with him when he appeared on the Craig Ferguson show that they will also have to go to a strip club. I guess the car salesman had a seedy other side to him. But at least Booth will be back on the investigations full-time and not on Vicodin. (Wasn’t he funny when he was taking the pain pills?) Here are the photos:

Bones: Episode 4.16 – “The Bones That Foam” Promo

February 20, 2009 by Lynn

bones-spoiler-template.jpg

Episode 4.16: The Bones That Foam
Airdate: March 12, 2009

I have some good news, and some bad news for Bones fans. The good news is that it looks as if there could be as many 26 total episodes in season 4 of Bones. This promo clip says that there will be 11 episodes of Bones “in a row.” Now, I suppose that isn’t a for sure thing, since some of them may be repeats, but I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed that there will be 11 new ones. As I find out more info, I’ll share it here, so stay tuned.

The bad news is that we have to wait another three weeks for an episode to air. GEEZ! It’s frustrating that they keep doing this to us. But I suppose true Bones fans will wait as long as we have to for new episodes…

Here’s the promo clip for the episode that David Boreanaz directed, The Bones That Foam:

Bones: Attacks in the Lab!?!

February 19, 2009 by Lynn

bones-spoiler-template.jpg

Check out this spoiler from Michael Ausiello. He says that during the remaining episodes this season, there will be attacks happening at the lab! And it’s going to affect everyone’s trust for each other. Hmmm… Could it be one of the many revolving interns trying to knock off the others? Another serial killer trying to stop investigations? One of the main characters flips their lid? What are your thoughts?

Oh, and it sounds like things are still on track for Booth & Brennan hooking up this season. ;-)

Spoiler:
Question: Seriously, Mike? You’ve gone weeks without giving us new Bones scoop! — Esther
Ausiello: I was saving up for something good — something like… this: According to executive producer Hart Hanson, a series of attacks within the Lab will cause “dissension and suspicion” amongst all of the main players by the end of the season, adding, “It will affect the way each and every character regards the others.” Oh, and the Booth-Brennan sex thing in the May finale? Yep, still happening. [Source: EW]

David Boreanaz and Craig Ferguson, Together Again!

February 17, 2009 by Lynn

Last night, David Boreanaz was one of the guests on the Craig Ferguson show. If you’ve seen the two of them together before, you already know how well they play off each other’s sense of humor.

The socks play heavily in the interview and there’s a very short clip from The Bones That Foam, which is the episode that David directed. If you don’t like spoilers, don’t worry, it’s nothing really spoilery. But the discussion of the casting for the episode and Jaime Bergman, David’s wife is hilarious.
