Bones: Season Three Two-Part Season Finale Wrap Up

by Lynn on May 20th, 2008

Last night, we had a number of shocks to deal with in the last episode of Bones season three. We’ve had a lot of build-up to the finale and now that it’s aired, it might be fun to go back and review it so we can get the most out of the last two episodes until August.

Why did they get rid of Eric Millegan on Bones. My family dont know if there going to watch it at all again. Why made him bad on show we like everyone on hit. I wished that you haven’t got rid of Eric Millegan. Are why didn’t you made come out as a hero. All the season you showed him he help save people’s lives.

I am just sad to see Zack leave the show - his character was quite charming - whatever do the writers/producers think??

I was disappointed in who Gormogon’s apprentice turned out to be. Zach may fit the profile, yet he doesn’t. He adores his fellow squints, I can’t see him doing anything to betray or hurt them. This just seems out of character. Maybe Eric the actor wanted more time to do theatre, so that’s why he was written off so suddenly? Poor Zach, left for Iraq at the end of Season 2, and now he’s either going to prison or the loony bin. I think they should have given Gormogon some more air time, as he was the focus of the whole season. I don’t like when they wrap things up so quickly, like “Killer In The Concrete.”
    Just my opinion….

I’ve liked this show for a while but I gotta say that this season is leaving me cold. Zach as the Gormagon apprentice? That just doesn’t make any sense. Neither does turning one of the few genuine moments of the season - Booth’s shooting - into a gag. Can’t stand the new psychoanalyst character. I’d say it’s time to go back to first principles and focus on good solid episodes about science and character development.

I was extremely disappointed in the Bones finale. It seemed forced and contrived. Zach isn’t a weak follower. I loved his charm and what he added to the group. He will be missed.

I also think this was a cheap way to end the season. Hart Hanson, god bless him, is definitely getting the “violent reaction” he predicted, and I think this was a really, really bad artistic decision. Yes, it was shocking to turn Zack into a villain, but that’s because it was inconceivable! Talk about the willing suspension of disbelief…

Just watched the season finale. What an absolute disappointment. Booth’s shooting and rebirth felt contrived and shoehorned in, and Zach being the apprentice, give me a break. I drive 30 minutes every Thursday to watch this with my Mam as I don’t have Sky, and I’m currently feeling like I won’t even bother.

When discussing this episode earlier today (only just been aired in the UK) I predicted that Sweets or Zack would be Gormagon’s Apprentice, because of their personalities. But I was so hoping that it would be Sweets! He just grates my nerves! Zack is too nice a person to betray his friends like that. Although it made for good watching, I would have much preferred a different outcome.

So after that idiotic car crash they called a season finale, I’m now left wondering has the show been ruined beyond repair? I think the best way to get back on track (short of making that last episode all a dream sequence) will be to get rid of Sweets as he’s just so annoying, and replace him with Stephen Fry, a his quirky British humor and banter with Booth.

I agree, the finale was rushed and it was a little dissapointng, however, because I love the show I wil still buy the DVD collecton and watch season 4!! But I can see that the wrap-up was abit of an anti-climax

I was very disappointed in the season finally. It was unrealistic. First of all who was the guy that Booth was trying to get out off hiding. Second Sweets is ok but I prefer the British physiologist. Then there’s Zack. You would think that the shark for this show would have been Bones and Booth hooking up instead they did this. I read an article with Eric Millegan he was told that he was going to be the appetence. He didn’t ask to leave the show. This was Fox trying to get better ratings. In the article Eric said that he because of the strike they didn’t get into his post pardon depression from being in Iraq. Why didn’t they go into that? Zack could have had a breakdown. He could have seen one of Gormagon’s bodies and had a flash back. Anything but being a bad guy. Or they could have left Gormagon out of it and made it the Grave Digger. They could have left Zack under ground as he was the one that found out the location. I’m still waiting for them to bring back that murder. I like the show but I think the strike really messed things up. Why didn’t they just extend the season into the summer? If not then make the season finally less dramatic and something that would have put a smile on peoples faces. Something that wouldn’t make me question if I want to watch next season. If they could find a way to get Bone’s father off and we all saw him do it (another story line left out of the finally) then they should be able find some way of fix this mess. The other comment that Eric made in the article is that he hopes people will miss him. I know I will!! I hope Fox finds a way to fix this. Although I normal can’t stand the dream thing I would except it this time if Zack is back.

In many interviews, Hart Hanson has said that they will bring Zach back in season 4… I agree it was an abrupt and almost confusing way to end the season. But Hart Hanson has also said in interviews that the lead up to this was a casualty of the writers’ strike…

Ang: I would sooooo LOVE for Bones to continue into the summer, but think about it… The network had already planned on having all of its summer shows like ‘So you think you can dance?’ lined up. There was - unfortunately - no room to make up for lost episodes of its fall shows. :(

I hope that next season there are waaaaaay more episodes!
