Bones: Discussion Topics for “The Wannabe in the Weeds”
We know that this week’s Bones episode was the first part of a two-part season finale, and the writers sure did not let us down on this one!! (BTW - just to peek your interest, I will be interviewing Hart Hanson tomorrow afternoon, so be sure to come back to read what he has to say!!!)
I will work on a more detailed recap this weekend (it’s been an insane week…) but in the mean time, here are some things we can all discuss:
- What did you think of the karaoke element in this show?
- Was I the only one that was a bit disappointed that they portrayed cutie Ace Young as an insensitive, theiving jerk?
- How are you liking the rivalry that’s developing between Brennan and Sweets?
- Didn’t you love how Booth threatened to arrest the phony talent scout and club manager just because he didn’t like them?
- Wasn’t it fun when Zack broke into song in the middle of the lab?
- I thought it was interesting that Brennan brought up Booth’s sniper training in the military twice in the same episode.
- And what about that creepy stalker-lady, Pam? Yikes!!
- Didn’t you love the way Brennan was enjoying the singing and how well she performed?
- I loved the adoring look on Booth’s face as he watched her sing, didn’t you?
- And I almost expected her to tell Booth that she loved him when she was telling him to hang in there after he was shot, didn’t you?
- So what now? Do you think Booth is dead? If so, how will the show continue? Will he pull through right away, or will he fake his death for some reason?
- What do you think of the Gormagon mystery? We know they will capture Gormagon in Monday’s episode, but who will it be?
- I’m still not convinced that it’s Zack. He’s too young, he may be slightly robotic, but he doesn’t seem to be a cannibalistic ritual killer…
- Could Gormagon be Sweets? He seems far too in touch with his emotions and with human psychology to be a heinous murderer too.
- So who do you think it is? What do you expect to happen with Zack? And how will Seeley’s gunshot wound be resolved?

Another thing to back up my theory that Zack is Gormagon’s apprentice is that I saw the casting list for next season on another site, and HE IS NOT ON IT!!!!! Unless they left him off on purpose…

1. The karaoke element quite fascinating that it appeals to the performer in every human being.
2. Who is Ace Young?
3. I do not see it as a rivalry, I think Sweets is attempting to earn the same level of respect from Brennan and Booth that accord to each other.
4. I tend to think that Booth’s threat to arrest the manager and phony talent scout from the inherent Eagle Scout mentality that he exhibits.
Indeed Booth to extent nreminds me of a combination of Superman, and Captain America
5. Both Eric and Emily had great voices I was quite impressed.
6. From the early sides of the season four episodes I have seen Dr Sweets is still in the cast; So I doubt he is Gorganzola.
7. What I found firghtening about the character of Pam Nunan is the fact that people with her psychology are more commonplace than anyone realizes. When I was in University there were several individuals who acted in a similar manner and were quite frightening individuals.

1. I think it was cool, the karaoke element. I loved Emily Deschanel’s voice!! =) Zack was like singing for an opera! =)
2. I wasn’t disappointed. I didn’t actually care about the way his character was acting. Just now, when you said that.. it got me thinking…
3. Well, it’s not a rivalry against Brennan and Sweets. Remember the episode “The Verdict in the Story” wherein Sweets went up to B&B and told them he wants to study the relationship of the two furthermore. Then the two began teasing him that he likes them. Maybe it is true, that Sweets like the tandem of the two, and the team as a whole.
4. I didn’t actually love it. I just liked the part that he was doing his job! Well, it was a bad thing they’ve done. Booth just wants to punish the two.
5. YES!!!
6. yeah! I kinda thought it was funny!
7. err.!!! I hate FAT PAM!!! grr!!! she already shot Booth, and she will shoot Brennan also!! GRRR!!!
if she was a real person, I’d be the one pulling the trigger instead of Brennan!!
8. YES!! Brennan has a lovely voice!! but dang! some of the people didn’t like her voice!! eek!
9. I did.!! it was a thrilling moment!!
10. YEP!!! when i saw Cam’s face, oh god, Brennan’s going to tell something that’s why Cam’s curious!! woohoo!! well, I think, Cam still has feelings for Booth!
11. No, I don’t think he died! =) I mean he’s Booth, a sniper, the lots of guts guy! =)

I’m not a fan of American Idol, so I was secretly happy that the guy got whacked.
I don’t think Zack is Gorgomon (the kid can’t even drive a car, let alone ride a motorcycle). I just don’t see it.
As for the (SPOILER) that he’s not in the cast next season, I think it’s interesting to note that as far back as Dr. Goodman, people have been telling him he’s much too talented to be Dr. Brennan’s assistant forever. I think the thing Cam “didn’t see coming” is Zack’s resignation after being blown up–again.
I like the idea the person above had about the cop being Gorgomon. It’s in line with what we know of Gorgomon. FBI Tech Marcus Geier is also a possibility IMO.
I liked the karaoke bits. If that’s ED singing “badly” I’m impressed. My best singing isn’t that good (I played drums for a reason).
Booth absolutely didn’t die. I know a couple of people who’ve been injured far worse only to come back with “It’s only a flesh wound!” (OK, not their exact words, but after several months of rehab they were functional again). That’s not to say he won’t be hurting for a LONG time, but he’ll be okay. I expect someone to buy him a Superman T-shirt as a get-well gift.
That whole scene was very intense and the acting was superb–lots of little nuances to watch for (Hodgins’s actions, the look of horror on people’s faces, the flash of anger on Brennan’s face as she shoots Pam, etc.) I, too, expected, if not “I love you,” then SOME sort of admission as Booth was bleeding out….
Pam was portrayed very accurately and the actress did a good job.
It can’t be Monday soon enough!

1. its was differet, we foud out may of characters are different as we thought they are especialy singers(Zack and Brennan:))
2.oh i think it wasnt bout his just about the case and he fits it well
3. well i think Brennan needs someone to argue with and Booth its nice to her now so she found out that Sweets is a good candidate to continue:D

-Loved Zack when he sang nd Angelas’s face there was funny, loved that.nd gosh, laughed a lot when Hodgins called Zack, Pavaroti.
-The karaoke element in the show was great idea.
-Bam-bam-bam wanna slap nd shoot nd cut into pieces FatPam’s body.gosh hated that freak.i cired a lot when Seeley was shot.
-love Cindy Lauper aswell nd Tempey was really funny nd cute during performing.Gosh, Emily has a great voice.but damn yeah, girls wanna have fun/

I loved that booth had fun watching Bones sing but for me it was a bit weird…
I LOVE HOW HE GOT SHOT and how he falls down!!!! Seriously that was my favorite gunshot fall ever!!!! so nice.
Zach is not in the cast cause he is in the hospital for a while.

-I loved the karaoke, it was hilarious and entertaining at the same time!
-I was disappointed that Ace was evil, I always liked him *tear*
-I think that the rivalry between Sweets and Brennan is hilarious and oddly fascinating
-I love Booth when he threatens people lol
-Zack looks like a good singer, thats sounds weird, but he does
-I didn’t notice the number of times they brought up Booth’s military background
-OK I know this is obvious but there is something seriously wrong with Pam!
-BRENNAN WAS SUCH A GOOD SINGER!!! My friends and I thought that she actually did do better singing ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ but I thought it was ironic, because I think Brennan really does just want to have fun. I thought it was weird though that she didn’t notice Booth get up when he saw the gun, cause they were staring at each other the whole time!!!
-Booth was adorable when he was watching her sing, I liked when he took out his zippo, lol
-I expected Brennan to do something along the lines of saying ‘I love you’ or kissing him when he was shot, that would’ve been nice.
-Ok if Booth is dead I will stop watching the show, cause the show’s name is based off of a nickname he gave the name character, or that’s how I view it at least.
-I don’t know how this Gormagon thing is gonna pan out but i can’t wait!
-I think it might be Zack, but he has all his teeth, so it probably isn’t him, he’s been really creepy lately, I don’t know how much I like him anymore.
-I don’t think it’s Sweets, Sweets is too cool to be Gormagon!
-If Zack isn’t Gormagon I think he has something to do with Gormagon or something, I can’t wait for the episode!!!!

Well drat, now I *must* answer all those questions!
-I loved the karaoke element. The only thing better would have been a bit of David too!
-I was not at all disappointed in Ace Young’s role. I really didn’t like this American Idol thing at all.
-I don’t think there is a rivalry between Sweets and Brennan at all. I think Sweets wants to be ‘in’ with Booth and Brennan and with Booth he plays the manly way, with the hand on the shoulder and the case info, while with Brennan he goes the intellectual route.
-Yes I do enjoy Booth’s humorous moments like that. (Similar to arresting the guy in Player Under Pressure because when he saw his face he “got mad.”
-I definitely enjoyed hearing Zack sing.
-I didn’t find it notable that she brought up his sniper training twice. The references fit.
-Pam was an amazing villian. I’d have been happy to see her back for more craziness if she hadn’t actually shot Booth and intended to kill Brennan. If she’s stopped short of that I’d want to keep her around for some serious creepiness.
-Yes. Booth helps her leave her shell in many ways. The performance was a perfect way to see her release some of her control.
-Yes I loved watching Booth watch Brennan on stage. The lighter was a wonderful touch as well. The pure joy in Booth made the climax all the more heart pounding.
-I did not at all expect a declaration from Brennan as Booth laid there dying. I don’t think the writers would ever be that trite. Last time a couple faced a situation like that the writers broke them up…normal and conventional is rarely in the cards for Bones. Additionally, Brennan is eminantly rational. Declarations of love would not be rational - the most rational actions are anything that would save his life.
-No, ‘is Booth dead’ is sadly one of the least suspenseful questions! How will they deal with it, what will happen, how will it affect Booth and Brennan…those are all the big unknowns!
-My Gormogon guess is Bancroft but really they have done a great job keeping this a wide open question. I do think Zack will have done something that involves him in the issue. I don’t think Gormogon could possibly be Sweets.

Well, now that I’m feeling more literate, I can make a decent post.
1st things first. Happy Birthday to the man of the day :)
* i loved it. Emily singing was awesome. I agree that if that was her singing badly, I would really like to see her singing well
*Due to my being half a world away in New Zealand, I feel like Bones when it comes to American Idol. Ace? I don’t know what that means.
*I don’t think its Brennan/Sweets, but more Brennan and Booth vs Sweets. I think its awesome. I love when the team up against him
* Hell yes I did
* It was very fun. Eric’s voice is amazing. He should sing more.
* I can’t say that I noticed. Maybe I should re-watch the episode for a third time :P
* I thought that Pam’s character was very well portrays. But I still have a strong dislike for Fat
* Yes, it was nice to see Brennan coming out of her shell, if only for a little wile.
* He looked so cute. I feel like I should make a repeating loop of him doing his little boogie.
* I hoped for it, but I wasn’t expecting it.
* Hes not dead. Most defiantly not dead.
* I’m enojying this story arc. My vote for Gorgonzilla is Clark.
* I have never believed to be Zack. I love him to much :)
* I don’t think its Sweets either. Part of that is based on the Knight on the Grid, and his reaction to the autopsy.
*I think its Clarke. Zack, I’m not to sure on. Booths wound however, My theory is, Booth is taken to the hospital, while Brennan is taken into custody for shooting someone. Booth has a fake funeral, for reasons that escape me, and for some reason, Brennan is left in the dark. Booth makes an appearance, and Brennan decks him for making her believe he was dead.

I loved Brennans singing. She was great! I honestly thought either Booth or Brenna would of said “I love you” after he got shot. I thought it was amazing how Booth took a bullet for his partner and best friend. I don’t think Booth will die. But im 85% sure that Zack will die, unfortunently because a lot of the spoliers I’ve read for season 4 say all the same…Brennan is looking for a new grad student…. BUMER! I liked Zack. Good Luck with Hart Hanson! Wish I could be there. hahaha :)

It’s Wed in the Fall then Friday starting January…I bet it gets another night again before season 4 is finished…Bones is the red headed stepchild at Fox.

I just had some interesting thoughs. I think Gordon Gordon could be Gorgamon. (As much as I Hate to say it, because I love GG)
1) He known to the team
2) He, as a counseller, has access to troubled young people, and can convince then to join him. I seem to recall our young diamond toothed friends said that he had undergone a counselling, and was ‘better now’. (But dont quote me, i havent confirmed by re-watching at this point)
3) I don’t think Zack would be able to conivince any troubled teens to do anything, let alone eat people. They would just think he was werid. Clark would not have this problem so much though.
4) Sweets is simply too young. The old Gorgamon has been in the home for 5 years. That would put Sweets at 17 when he started to go senile. Plausible, but not likely. (Also his reaction to the autopsy in ‘Knight on the Grid’)
