Bones Fan Defends Hart Hanson
May 30, 2008 by Lynn
Bones fan, Jamie Frevele, has done it again! She just published another piece in the Huffington Post where she talks In Defense of Hart Hanson.
She writes about the fans’ violent resistance to Zack’s exit from the show as a killer and about the reasons why the writers must sometimes shock us this way. Be sure to go read her commentary on the season finale’s “Zack-lash.” Great stuff!
Cartoon Tribute to Zack Addy

Bones fan Laryza created this comic strip tribute to the departure of Zack Addy, aka Eric Millegan. I love her creativity and the fact that she really seems to have captured the characters perfectly. What do you think?

Hart Hanson: The Rest of the Interview
May 26, 2008 by Lynn
The other day, I posted part of the conference call interview with Hart Hanson, creator of Bones, but I am just now getting the chance to post the rest. I apologize for the dealy. Some of your questions are answered in Hart’s dialog here, such as the season 4 premiere date and whether the Gravedigger will return in season 4. Check it out:
Question: So another year, another FOX schedule, another Bones is moving to Friday joke?
H. Hanson: Yes, I hope it is another Bones is being moved to Friday joke. I’m cranky about it on a whole bunch of levels. First is we are a very good pairing with House, and to be split up with them as we were growing bugs me. But I understand what the network has to do. I can see their reasoning, I just don’t like it. And I hope it never happens. I hope we don’t go to Friday. I say that every year, and so far we’ve only had reruns on Friday.
Q: At the end of the day for you, is there a certain pride in being thought of as the show that can go anywhere and do the same solid audience, or would you rather just be on the same night and actually be a massive hit?
H. Hanson: I would rather that we were left somewhere and allowed to grow. We’ve been pretty good at hanging onto the eyes that come to our show. We’ve demonstrated that we do that. That being said is that pride – not so much pride as a Sad Sack gratitude that our audience just keeps following us. It’s gratifying that no matter where we go our audience follows us.
I’ve been told that we are the only show that came back from the strike and went up in viewers, that [our viewership] increased. Everyone else has been down by double-digit percentages, and that’s just our viewers finding us and watching us. So, more gratification than pride, but there’s a lot of gratification.

The Booth In the Bathtub Scene!
May 20, 2008 by Lynn
Ok, I think it’s safe to say that the very best scene in last night’s episode of Bones was the scene with Booth in the bathtub reading a comic book, smoking a cigar and drinking beer from a hat. Brennan barges in and what follows is a hilarious scene. This is truly priceless!!

Eric Millegan Explains to Us All
May 20, 2008 by Lynn
I know, we’re all still in shock aout last night’s season finale. Just now, I got an email from Eric Millegan that tells us how he feels about leaving the regular cast of the show. I won’t paraphrase. Here’s what he says:
Okay. If you’ve seen the season finale, you’ve found out what I found out two months ago. I will no longer be a series regular on “Bones.” Creatively, they decided to carry out this storyline in which my character, Zack, was the apprentice to the Gormogon serial killer. The storyline landed Zack in a psychiatric facility and so he is no longer working at the Jeffersonian. This wasn’t my choice, but I embraced the challenge as an actor.
Over the last two months, I have been auditioning for some very interesting projects and I will keep you informed as to how it all goes. I’m also planning on bringing my cabaret show to NYC before the year is over. Once the date is set, I will let you know. I want to apologize to all of you for the times, over the last two months, in which I’ve had to be vague about still working on the show. I know that I told TV Guide that no one was leaving the show and well, you never know, my character is alive and there’s always the chance that he could return. Maybe they’ll have to visit Zack to help solve a case! I couldn’t tell you the whole truth because I was sworn to secrecy by the producers to tell no one about my leaving the show until now. I hated not being able to tell you (it really really s ucked) but well, unfortunately, it was my job to keep the secret.
There you go. I will really miss being on the show and I will really miss working with my friends David, Emily, Michaela, TJ, John, Tamara, Patricia and company. I loved working with Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan, Barry Josephson and all the other producers, writers, and directors. I enjoyed working with the crew and it was an honor to be a member of the FOX family for 3 years. Finally, thank you for your continued support.
Namaste,
*sniff!* sniff!* How sad…. We’ll miss him on the show!!

My Conversation With Hart Hanson
May 19, 2008 by Lynn
As I told you on Friday, I got to take part in a conference call interview with Hart Hanson, the creator of Bones. And I hope you will remember that he actually mentioned Searching Bones in a video interview he did back during the time of the writers’ strike. Well, dear readers, he’s now confirmed for me that he does in fact read this site! If you don’t believe me, be sure to read our conversation below.
Also, I wanted to convey to you just how warm and friendly he is to talk to. He was extremely personable, called each of us by our names and enjoyed making little jokes with us and was laughing (in a totally friendly way) during the entire interview. I felt as if he was someone that would be easy to sit with to share a cup of coffee and have a great conversation about the show and its latest plot twists. I can’t stress enough how nice he is!
Without further ado, here’s what he and I talked about:
L. DeVries: I wanted to thank you for mentioning the site in an interview you did during the writer’s strike.
H. Hanson: It’s a beautiful site.
L. DeVries: Thank you so much.
H. Hanson: I know the actors check in. I certainly look every once in awhile. It’s a very nice site.

More to Tease Us About Tonight’s Finale
May 19, 2008 by Lynn

TV Guide just published a short spoiler interview with Emily Deschanel. It gives us a couple of tidbits we didn’t already know, such as the reason that Brennan doesn’t want to go to Seeley’s funeral:
TV Guide: Does Booth (David Boreanaz) survive the shooting?
Emily Deschanel: Let’s just say we left Brennan in a crazy place in the last episode. It feels like she’s losing people left and right. She’s in a place where she’s cutting off her emotions.TV Guide: Do we discover the identity of the Gormogon, the cannibalistic serial killer that’s been taunting the squints all season?
Deschanel: Yes. I get sent a jawbone from the Gormogon. We learn that he — or she — has infiltrated the lab and might have someone on the inside helping. We start suspecting people we’ve worked with a long time.TV Guide: Is it true Zack (Eric Millegan) is in another explosion?
Deschanel: There’s an explosion and bad injuries happen. There’s so much going on. We can’t talk about 90 percent of it!
Only a few more hours to the finale!!!
Bones: Could It Be True?
May 18, 2008 by Lynn
I can assure you that there’s no possible way that Booth is really dead. After all, we already know he’ll be going to England with Brennan in the two-part season opener for the fourth season. But what could this possibly mean?
